'Boyfriend' is the new single from Marika Hackman. Something of a slight change in direction, the cut, her first with AMF Records (INHEAVEN, Loyle Carner), is centred-around a hypnotising guitar line that bends its way around the song, while Hackman's typically gorgeous, hushed vocal tells the thought-provoking, wholly pertinent tale. There's a heavier, more gutsy feel to proceedings, while her knack for haunting folk-tinged songwriting continues to shine through. -G.O'B
